Snakes
Hardly a more perfect design,
Could Mother Nature had in mind,
Than this colorful and versatile creature,
With many an adapted feature,
Of the must successful kind.

Some arboreal snakes can glide/fly,
While others gracefully swim on by,
And there are those that burrow underground,
But all can easily traverse the most difficult terrain around,
Or twine through bush and tree on high.

Across the eye there is a protective lens,
And when they change clothes they shed their skins,
No waste when eating - the meal they take whole,
And go long periods when they are full,
Before they have to eat again.

The snake has always been man's friend,
In helping to control dangerous vermin,
Because they like such tasty pests,
As rats, insects, and the rest,
We need to understand snakes and appreciate them!
