BASIC CAPTIVE CARE FOR THE SAND FISH

Distribution: Northern Africa
Size: 6" - 8"

N A T U R A L H A B I T A T :

These lizards are very docile and shy. Thay are mainly found
in sandy desert habitats. In captivity, adults will require a
vivarium mesuring 24"x 12" x15"

B E H A V I O R :

With regular handling these lizards become very tame and Quite
easy to handel. Males usually become territorial, So keep separate
from other males. Use sand for substrate, about 2" to 3" deep
for burrowing.

C A P T I V E E N V I R O N M E N T :

Use UV lighting 12-14 hours per day (Arcadia D3).
Provide a basking area with access to a cooler area.
This lizard likes plenty of hiding places (imitation plants)
Caves. Keep the lower layer of sand slightly damp.

T E M P E R A T U R E :

Daytime temperature should be:
Basking Area 88 to 95 degrees F.
Cool Area 80 degrees F.
Night temperature should range between 75-80 degrees F.
Use a reptile heat mat for 24-hour ground heat inside the vivarium

H U M I D I T Y / W A T E R R E Q U I R E M E N T S :

These lizards require only low levels of humidity.

Us a small water bowl for drinking.

N U T I T I O N A L R E Q U I R E M E N T S :

This carnivore eats primarily insects, brown or black crickets,

waxworm, small mealworms. Dust food with calcium and
vitamins.
