BASIC CAPTIVE CARE FOR THE STANDINGS DAY GECKO

Scientific Name: Phelsuma standingi
Distribution: Madagascar
Size: 7" - 9"
NATURAL HABITAT :
This gecko is diurnal and arboreal it occupies tropical rain forest
habitats. When kept in captivity, Adult Standings Day Geckos
require a 24"X17"x12" vivarium.
BEHAVIOUR :
Males may become territorial, Keep separate from other males. CAPTIVE ENVIRONMENT :
Use UV lighting 12-14 hours per day (Activa/Arcadia D3).
Very Active and Difficult to hold, Their skin is easily Damaged
so take care. To much handling will stress the animal.
Provide a basking area with access to a cooler area.
This lizard likes plenty of hiding places ( imitation plants).
rocks, bark hides and climbing branches. Use bark substrate.

Daytime temperature should be: HUMIDITY / WATER REQUIREMENTS:
These Lizards require a moderate level of humidity. NUTRITIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
This species is a carnivore, these lizards like assorted insects.
Basking Area 84 to 86 degrees F.
Cool Area 80 degrees F.
Night temperature should range between 73-75 degrees F.
Use a reptile heat mat for 24-hour ground heat inside the vivarium.
Keep the vivarium well ventilated.
Mist the vivarium every other day to maintain humidity levels.
Supply a medium size shallow bowl for drinking and bathing.
Always offer a variety, black or brown crickets, mealworms, waxworms.
Will also take small amounts of fruit, mashed into a liquid.
Always use a good dusting supplement.
